The igniter uses heat to ignite the gas in the burner assembly if the igniter is not working, the gas will not ignite, preventing the dryer from heating to determine if the igniter has burned out, u se a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity if the igniter does not have continuity, replace it. If your dryer doesn’t have an electronic main control board, it probably uses a mechanical timer instead. timer uses a small motor which rotates the cams that turn the circuits on and off and to operate the timer motor itself. unplug the dryer and use a multi-meter to check for continuity in the contacts that control the small timer motor.. This is the most common symptom we hear on all brands of dryers. one of the appliance parts most of us suspect first is the heating element (see common whirlpool elements below), but there are several other appliance parts on the dryer and one item that is not on the dryer that can produce the same symptom. you will save time, energy, and money if you will take a few moments to prove exactly.
